FAQ

What do I need to do to become a member?

All you have to do to be a member is come to our meetings! We have no requirements for minimum attendance, as we understand our members are busy. However, attending meetings is highly encouraged since it’s easier to productive surrounded by other members, and you’ll get to learn from our tutorials and guest speakers. Plus, we have fun events such as club dinners and movie screenings!

I don’t know much about animation/I’m not a very good artist. Can I still join?

The truth about art is that it’s a skill built through practice! Also, animations don’t have to be complex to be good. Many great animations have nothing more complicated than stick figures or simple shapes.  If you still have doubts, consider trying out some types of animation that don’t require hand-drawn art, such as motion graphics or stop motion!

How long does it take to make an animation?

The typical animation has 24 frames per second. That might sound intimidating, but many animations use fewer frames per second; after all, things aren’t constantly moving. We also create animatics and concept art, so if you’re worried about time commitment, you can start off with one of those.

I can’t make the meeting time this semester. Can I still join?

Even if you can’t come to the meetings, you can still participate by making animations in your own time and sharing them with us. You can join our listserv as well to receive updates and see what work we’re making.
